In modern industrial automation equipment, pneumatic components have been widely used. Pneumatic technology uses compressed air as the working medium to transmit energy and signals. It is a technology that realizes the mechanization and automation of various production processes.
The working process of pneumatic transmission is to use an air compressor to convert the mechanical energy output by the electric motor or other prime movers into the pressure energy of the air. Then under the action of the control element, the pressure energy is converted into mechanical energy in the form of linear motion or rotary motion through the actuator, thereby completing various actions.
According to the different functions of pneumatic components and devices, the pneumatic transmission system can be divided into four components.
1. Air source device
The air source device is an energy device for obtaining compressed air, and its main part is an air compressor. There is also a gas source purification device. Air compressors include single cylinder compressor, double cylinder air compressor, three cylinder air compressor and reciprocating compressor.
2. Control components
The control element is used to control the pressure, flow and flow direction of the compressed air flow so that the actuator can complete the predetermined movement law. Control elements include pressure solenoid valve, directional valve, air cylinder flow control valve, stroke valve, air cylinder control valve, sensors, etc.
The pneumatic circuit is composed to drive mechanical devices for various purposes. The three most important control contents are the magnitude of the force, the direction of the force, and the speed of movement. Various types of cylinders connected to the production equipment rely on pressure control valves, directional control valves and flow control valves to control the three contents respectively.
The main function of the throttle valve is to adjust the air flow and control the speed of the pneumatic drive element.
3. Actuator
The actuator uses compressed air as the working medium and converts the pressure energy of the compressed air into mechanical energy. This mainly includes cylinders for linear reciprocating motion, pneumatic motors for continuous rotary motion, and swing motors for discontinuous rotary motion.
The cylinder is one of the main pneumatic drive components. It has many types. According to the mode of action, it can be divided into single-acting cylinders and double-acting cylinders. Cylinders can be divided into linear motion cylinders, rotary air cylinders and air gripper pneumatic cylinders according to their movement modes. According to the operating conditions of the cylinder, it can be divided into ordinary cylinders, waterproof cylinders and clean cylinders. Ordinary cylinders are suitable for general working environment. The waterproof cylinder is suitable for environments with a certain degree of water mist and humidity. Clean air cylinders are mainly used in the working environment of clean rooms.
4. Auxiliary components
Auxiliary components refer to some devices needed to clean, lubricate, muffle the compressed air and connect the components. This includes water separators, oil mist filters, mufflers, and various pipeline accessories.
