There are two types of cylinders: reciprocating linear motion and reciprocating swing. When working, the piston must be lubricated by the oil mist in the compressed air.
The cylinder is divided into reciprocating linear motion and reciprocating swing. Cylinders that perform reciprocating linear motion can be divided into four types: single acting air cylinders, double acting air cylinders, diaphragm cylinders and pneumatic impact cylinders.
Single acting pneumatic cylinder includes spring return pneumatic cylinder and spring loaded pneumatic cylinder. The single-acting cylinder has a simple structure and low air consumption. A spring is installed in the rigid body to shorten the effective stroke of the cylinder. The reaction force of the spring increases with the increase of the compression stroke, so the output force of the piston rod decreases with the increase of the movement stroke. The spring has the ability to absorb kinetic energy, which can reduce the impact of stroke interruption. Generally used in occasions where the stroke is short and the output force and movement speed are not high.
Single-acting pneumatic cylinders are divided into push-type single-acting cylinders and pull-type single-acting cylinders.
The piston of double acting pneumatic cylinder can output force (thrust or pull) forward or backward. The structure is simple, and the stroke can be selected according to needs. If the cylinder is not equipped with a buffer device, when the piston moves to the end, especially the cylinder with a long stroke, the force of the piston hitting the end cover is very large and it is easy to damage the parts. Double-acting cylinders can also be divided into single piston rod cylinder and double piston pneumatic cylinder. The pressure area on both sides of the piston of the double-piston rod cylinder is equal, and the movement stroke and output force on both sides are equal. It can be used on long-stroke workbench devices. Both ends of the piston rod are fixed, and the cylinder barrel of the air cylinder moves with the worktable, which has enhanced rigidity and good guidance. In order to absorb the impact energy of the moving parts of the cylinder at the end of the stroke, cushion pads are arranged on both sides of the piston to protect the cylinder from damage.
Double-acting pneumatic cylinders include straight rod cylinders, buffer end cylinders, tandem cylinders, impact cylinders, cable cylinders, versatile rotary cylinders. Although the structure of the double-acting cylinder is more complicated, the accuracy is not low, and because the double-acting cylinder has compression and tension, no external power supply is needed, so it can meet the larger industrial system. For projects that require repeatable accuracy, double-acting cylinders are also a better choice.
Useful telescopic cylinders are available in double-acting and single-acting configurations. Telescopic cylinders are often used in applications that require very little pressure.
The reciprocating cylinder is called the oscillating cylinder. The inner cavity is divided into two by the vane, and the two cavities are alternately supplied with air. The output shaft makes an oscillating motion. The swing angle is less than 280°. In addition, there are rotary cylinders, gas-liquid damping cylinders and stepping cylinders.
Application areas include printing (tension control), semiconductors (spot welding machine, chip grinding), automation control, robotics, etc.
Carbon steel cylinder and aluminum air cylinder are the main components of automobile engines.
